The Salcombe Gin Co are based at The Boathouse (a bar and distillery) in Salcombe, Devon. We’ve chosen to feature this gin after enjoying a bottle of their gin during a recent holiday to the West Country!
The Boathouse is located in the traditional boat-building quarter of Salcombe. As it is a bar as well as a production line, visitors can enjoy a drink whilst watching the 450 litre copper still in action.
The distillery was set up by two friends – Howard and Angus – with a passion for Salcombe and Gin. After a couple of years in the making, Salcombe Gin was launched in 2016.
The gin is distilled with a combination of 13 fruit peels and botanicals. It has a citrusy taste and a smooth texture (perhaps due to the soft Dartmoor water) which is delicious when complemented by a premium tonic and a slice of red grapefruit.
The bottle has a clean, luxurious but classic appearance and feel – which is very inviting, and would make it a perfect gift for any gin lover!
The gin is available from the distillery’s own shop as well Majestic, Fortnum & Mason and other independent stockists.
Disclaimer…we are not affiliated with the Salcombe Gin Co in any way and are giving this review as very keen – but by no means professional/official – gin tasters!
